FAQs

  • I specialize in helping people who want to make changes related to their alcohol, tobacco, or other drug use, binge eating, gambling, and other behaviors that you think are creating distress in your life. I specialize in helping people get “unstuck”.

I also have experience treating mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

I see people who are 18+ and reside in the state of IL.

  • In short, yes.

Then why am I not using that term? While I understand that some people who struggle with the problems I treat identify with the concept of addiction, this is not a clinical diagnosis. Whether or not you relate with the concept of addiction, I can help you make the changes you wish to make in your life.

  • Beginning counseling can be nerve-wracking and vulnerable, and it’s important to me that you know what to expect.

In our consultation, I will ask you the following questions:

    1. What is the area/behavior that you are looking to change?

    2. What is driving your desire to start counseling? Why is this change important to YOU?

    3. How will we know that we are being effective together in counseling?

In the sessions following, we will use your values and strengths to guide your steps toward your desired changes. Every person’s counseling is individualized. We will primarily use CBT (see “approach” section of website) but will change course as needed. We will check in each session on how you feel you are progressing to make sure that you are moving toward the life you envision.

  • I accept self-pay and I am also in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO.

If I am out of network, you can pay out of pocket and then submit for reimbursement from your insurance company, but you will want to verify coverage ahead of time.

The accessibility of therapy is important to me. I have a number of sliding scale appointment slots for a significantly reduced fee. Feel free to contact me regarding those options if the cost of therapy is prohibitive to you.

    My session rates are:

    Initial assessment: $180

    55-60 minute session: $160

    30-minute session (“check-in”) $105

    No-show fees apply.

How often you are seen and for how long depends on your specific case. We can discuss this in your consultation.

  • I am located in Central Illinois, however, at this time, I provide exclusively telehealth services. I believe that telehealth allows for greater accessibility for people who have barriers to in-person services (including transportation, limited local providers, and busy lives).

I use HIPAA-compliant, secure video for sessions.
